Horticulturalists play a pivotal role within our team to create and maintain vibrant spaces. As a Horticulturalist you will drive the hands-on execution of works programs throughout our City. Each day you will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, assessing, and reporting on the appearance of Council's open spaces and assets, weed control, planting, pruning, hedging, and other associated horticultural tasks.

You will be rostered on a 9-day fortnight schedule, optimising your work time while offering flexibility.Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and enhance Council's open spaces through horticultural tasks including planting, pruning, weed control, and asset inspections.
  • Support and collaborate across teams to deliver programs and mentor new staff, trainees, and non-payroll personnel.
  • Contribute to the selection of plants/trees for beautification projects appropriate for parks, streets, and reserves.
  • Ensure safety and compliance by conducting risk assessments, equipment checks, and adhering to WHS procedures and Council policies.

About you:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Certificate III Horticulture or Arboriculture
  • Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) / Work Zone Traffic Management (WZTM)
  • MR Licence, or willingness to obtain
  • Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card)
  • Loader/Excavator ticket, or willing to obtain
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment and police check

Salary range is between $75,220 and $76,478 plus superannuation guarantee and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications.
