About the roles:

We are a social work team based within Student Support Services; a broader, multi-disciplinary team, consisting of other allied health professionals and experienced educators.

Social Work Truancy works closely with representatives from schools, preschools, parents, children, and other professionals, to implement time-limited, evidence-based interventions to support the engagement, learning and wellbeing outcomes to make a difference in the lives of children and young people.

The role requires high levels of professionalism, autonomy, and integrity. You will have a strong commitment to social justice, human rights, cultural safety, and to the rights of all people to be treated with dignity and respect. You are committed to advocating and empowering children, young people, and their families. You work independently and as part of a team, have excellent interpersonal skills, and are passionate about supporting children and young people reach their full potential in an educational context.

This position receives professional support from the Senior Social Worker.

Qualifications:

Essential: An appropriate degree or equivalent which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Special conditions:

The successful applicant is required to:

  • have a Department for Human Services (DHS) Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed and which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry
  • be registered under the Social Workers Registration Board South Australia, required by January 2026
  • undertake RRHAN-EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse, and Neglect – Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which is required to be updated every three years.   • have a provisional or full current driver’s licence.

Please note, suitability for the AHP2 Social Work Truancy requires a high level of experience as a Social Worker.

Remuneration:

AHP2: $88,255 - $102,240 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (11.5%)
