About the opportunity
The Development Manager is an integral member of the Development team within the Property & Development Division within the University Infrastructure (UI) portfolio. The University’s Property Portfolio consists of over 250 freehold and over 20 leasehold properties across its campuses and includes extensive landholdings, buildings, commercial farms and student accommodation.
In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for the establishment and day to day management of developments and commercial projects across the University Property Portfolio, the role combines strategic advice, development assessments, feasibilities, project management, financial administration, procurement and management of consultants to deliver agreed outcomes.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- manage stakeholders and collaborate with UI teams and stakeholders across the university to ensure that project/initiative deliverables and milestones are achieved
- development management of specific projects within the University’s Property Portfolio
- provide leadership and people management of the Assistant Development Manager(s) and other professional staff as required, in collaboration with the Development Director
- develop, align and implement strategies, business plans and development proposals to support the achievement of the overarching University vision, goals and objectives
- ensure compliance with the University’s Work, Health, Safety and Environmental systems and requirements including managing site access, inductions and permits.
About you
- Postgraduate qualifications - in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- experience managing a diverse group of key internal/external stakeholders on large or complex projects
- extensive experience in property development across acquisition, planning and approvals, construction and sale
- project management experience, managing multiple work streams, or leading large complex projects and ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
- strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
- previous experience providing effective leadership, management and coordination of development staff.
