Fruit Picker Position

Ulandra has 4 positions available for a Fruit Picker in Lakeland, Far North Queensland. Fruit Picker will be working at our Bananas, Avocados & Mushrooms Farm properties located in Lakeland.

We are a banana, avocado and mushrooms grower located in Lakeland, Far North Queensland, running a busy workshop and 3 packing houses.

We are looking for reliable and loyal staff to be part of our team.

Qualifications & Skills

• Have at least a relevant AQF or equivalent Certificate I; or
• Have at least one year work experience.
• Good communication skills.
• Work well in a team.
• Drive manual car (preferred, but not eliminatory)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Inspecting and reporting on the condition of the bananas, avocados and mushrooms crops.
• Planting banana and avocado trees.
• Preparing soil and spreading compost, gypsum and hay in preparation of cultivation to plant banana and avocado trees.
• Preparing mushroom substrate and raw material to be fed to the substrate machine.
• Perform crop maintenance duties such as weeding, pruning, lifting irrigation pipes of avocados and banana tree crops.
• Cutting open substrate loaves of mushrooms and pruning overgrown mushrooms.
• Spraying avocado and banana trees to control fungus, weeds and insect’s damage.
• Bagging banana bunches to protect them from sun and birds’ exposure.
• Picking bananas, avocados and mushrooms according to the quality requirements.
• Sorting and discarding rotting, overgrown, overripened, split and cut produce (non-conforming to the set standards).
• Grading and packing bananas, avocados and mushrooms as per requirements established by the Australian market customers.
• Cleaning the banana, avocado and mushrooms packing sheds and equipment.
• Maintaining the packing shed equipment and calibrating scales.
• Operating and maintaining general farm machinery and machinery to cultivate, fertilise, spray and harvest bananas and avocados.
• Adhering to health, safety and hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and Regulations.

The position is available for immediate start.

Full-time position.

Range Salary $66,000 - $76,000 per year (salary is negotiable).
