Primary objective
As part of a small and agile Central Australia CMC Office, you will provide strategic advice and support to the Regional Director for Central
Australia and Senior Executive Director Southern Region to support the regional implementation of the NT Government’s priorities of
Rebuilding the Economy, Reducing Crime and Restoring the Territory Lifestyle. You will support and drive the development of initiatives,
strategies and projects that contribute to regional development, working closely with your colleagues in other regions, and policy teams
across the division and agencies. You will also prepare high-quality advice to the CEO, Ministers and Cabinet regarding regional issues and
priorities, including Aboriginal affairs.

Context statement
The Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet’s purpose is to deliver coordinated policy and priority reform, regional leadership, and
high-quality support to Executive Government. The Department has a regional network of teams across the Territory that provide
leadership and policy coordination across and beyond the NT public sector. These regional offices are part of the broader Policy, Reform
and Regions Division, which provides joined-up cross-government leadership across Strategic Policy and Delivery, Aboriginal Partnerships
and Reform and Territory Regional Coordination.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake effective engagement, liaison and negotiation with government agencies, service providers business, industry and

community stakeholders.
2. Provide high level advice to senior Departmental staff on the resolution of complex issues relating to policies, programs, service

delivery and the implementation of local reforms.
3. Prepare and review high-level briefings, reports, correspondence and project plans to support the Senior Executive Director, Regional

Executive Director and Regional Director.
4. Manage the coordination and delivery of whole-of-government priorities, through the development and implementation of

regional action plans, regional economic development plans and relevant committees.
5. Support emergency and disaster management and recovery.
6. Follow defined work health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe workplace.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to negotiate, collaborate, build, and sustain relationships

and strategic alliances effectively.
2. Proven capacity to implement projects and provide strategic advice to government and other key stakeholders.
3. Demonstrated understanding of government policy and implementation, including in the areas relating to economic development,

community strengthening and improving liveability within the regions.
4. A sound understanding of the social, economic, political and demographic environment of the Northern Territory and an ability to

engage effectively with people from diverse cultures.
5. Knowledge and experience in project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
6. Demonstrated experience with emergency management and recovery or a willingness to develop the necessary skills.

Desirable
1. Qualifications in project management or regional and economic development or similar.
