Aurora Dairies are currently seeking a Senior Farm Hand (or Farm Hand) for our dairy ‘Forest Farm’ located in Elizabeth Town, Tasmania. This farm is approximately 650ha with 315ha under 6 centre pivot irrigation systems peaking at 1,350 cows, through a 54 bail rotary shed with ACR’s, auto teat spray and auto drafting with a Delpro computer system.

This farm is 100% Spring calving beginning in mid-July. The herd is mixed size with both small & large frame cows. We run a two herd system with an easy entry & exit system and the farm is predominantly pasture based with pellets fed in the dairy.

This farm has close proximity to Devonport and Launceston which are the major shopping towns and 10 minutes from Deloraine which has cafes and restaurants.

This role will include tasks the areas of:

• Driving and upholding Animal Health and Safe Operating Procedures
• All aspects of milking
• Animal husbandry
• Pasture management
• Machinery operation
• Repairs and maintenance.

Qualifications

The desired skills and experience for this opportunity are:

• Past dairy industry experience is desirable for this position, but we will consider inexperienced applicants with a wiliness to learn and the right attitude as the team at Forest Farm are committed to training people with and without experience.
