The Role

Being well supported by our long-term Babbiloora Station Property Manager, you’ll join a small, committed team who together look after livestock activities and the general station work that is required to successfully breed cattle on over 350,000 acres.

The station cook will enjoy working in a large, modern kitchen with great facilities and a beautiful outlook (especially the sunrises). Managing your time and priorities, to have breakfast and dinner ready at set times, you’ll work safely to:

  • Plan, prepare and cook wholesome and nutritious breakfasts and dinners (team of around 10 plus visitors & contractors from time to time)
  • Bake a range of tasty, sweet & savoury snacks
  • Maintain a variety of lunch options for staff to cut & pack
  • Monitor stores and consumables
  • Ensure high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food storage
  • Contribute to keeping shared areas to high standard of presentation
  • Help to maintain an easy-care garden, including mowing, whipper snipping, spraying, watering and moving sprinklers

About you

Whilst previous experience in this role isn’t necessary, you’ll need to love cooking, being in the kitchen and:

  • Takes great pride in what you do
  • Enjoys working on your own
  • Has effective skills in organising, planning and prioritising
  • Can work reliably without supervision
  • Can safely fulfil the physical requirements of the role
  • Has current Manual Drivers Licence
  • Is flexible and willing to lend the team a hand

This role is a permanent, full-time role so is not suitable for those on working holiday visas seeking 88 days work. We will consider visa holders who are wanting long term employment at a minimum of 6 months, preferably 12.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license (essential)
