The Role

We are currently seeking a reliable, motivated, and team-oriented Station Hand to join our team at Newstead Station.

Set in the New England Region of NSW and about 40 mins from Inverell is Paraway Pastoral’s Newstead Station. Newstead is 4964ha and predominantly finishes a large portion of Paraway’s Angus and Wagyu turn off from its breeding enterprises in Central NSW, while also providing a grass finishing option for Northern cattle as well as trade and agistment cattle for external clients.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and grow your skills in a well-established and professional agricultural environment.

As a Station Hand, you’ll play an essential role in the day-to-day operations of the property, contributing to livestock management, machinery operation, and general station maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with livestock handling and monitoring, paddock work, and general station operations
  • Safely operate and maintain two-wheeled motorbikes and side-by-sides
  • Work livestock using your own well-trained and effective working dogs
  • Operate and maintain vehicles and farm machinery safely and efficiently
  • Carry out routine station maintenance, including fencing, water infrastructure, and workshop tasks
  • Contribute to a safe and respectful work environment, following all WHS policies and procedures

What We’re Looking For:

  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of station operations, livestock care, and maintenance practices
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to workplace safety
  • Ability to safely operate two-wheeled motorbikes and side-by-sides
  • Competency with working dogs, with a preference for applicants who can supply their own

Qualifications & Requirements (Preferred but not essential):

  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (Heavy Vehicle licence an advantage)
