The Role

Ciaron Maher Racing is offering a unique opportunity for candidates with horse handling skills and a MR license at our Warwick Farm/Bong Bong stables.

The successful applicant will have sound knowledge of horses, be able to work independently, and in a team, be reliable and punctual, have discretion when required, have good attention to detail and have knowledge of health & safety procedures.

Basic stable hand duties will be required from time to time.

Specific Tasks:

  • Horse transportation including loading/unloading (Racedays / barrier trials)
  • Paddock work transportation as required
  • Co-ordinating vehicle maintenance, cleanliness & re-fuelling
  • Private transport of management staff by car
  • Liaise with other management regarding horse transport
  • Strapping when required
  • Basic stable staff duties, hosing, rugging, feeding horses & cleaning the yard
  • Experience operating equine treadmill is desired but not required

Requirements:

  • Must hold a minimum MR truck license (or be willing to obtain one before commencement)
  • Reliable, punctual, and honest
  • Be well presented
  • Must have horse-handling experience
  • Comfortable with flexible working hours
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong work ethic with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Previous experience with raceday saddling is an advantage
  • Experience with the Prism platform is desirable but not essential

Full-time, salary position

Competitive remuneration

5 days, 38 hours per week, some weekends required or unsociable hours may be required at certain times

Shared staff accommodation may be available.
