About the Role:
We are seeking an organised, professional and passionate Venue and Event Support Officer to join our Curtin St George’s Terrace team. Based across two Curtin premises located at 137 and 139 St Georges Terrace, Perth, this role is fundamental in providing administrative, coordination and operational support to the team, along with ensuring the efficient and effective management of the Curtin University St Georges Terrace precinct is upheld to its high standard on a daily basis.

As the Venue and Event Support Officer your responsibilities will include:

  • The first point of contact at reception to visitors, clients and suppliers that enter the building, and responding to enquiries in accordance with Curtin St Georges Terrace’s processes, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients and coordinate small-scale venue bookings across both buildings.
  • Provide venue and event support to the Curtin St Georges Terrace team including but not limited to booking venues, engaging with third party suppliers (eg. caterers, removalists, cleaners etc.), setting up rooms and preparing event material and collateral.
  • Participate in relevant events, including the provision of back up support for other members of the Curtin St Georges Terrace team when required.
  • Undertake administrative tasks and support including, but not limited to, the procurement of stationary orders and consumables, lodging maintenance requests, preparing meeting agendas, minute taking and pulling reports etc.
  • Update and maintain the venue management system (Momentus) and event digital signage scheduling.
  • Provide guidance and advice on health and safety items across both buildings and respond to any related issues or concerns.

Who we are looking for:

  • Excellent initiative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage their time efficiently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines with high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Exceptional customer service with strong written and verbal communication skillset.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in venue management system such as Momentus (formally known as Ungerboeck) or experience using a similar system is desirable.

    We are a small, but dynamic and hard-working team comprising of Venue and Event Coordinators, a Business Operations Coordinator and casual Venue and Event Assistants. In the heart of Perth’s CBD, the Curtin St Georges Terrace Precinct comprises of two iconic, heritage-listed buildings: the Old Perth Technical School and the Old Perth Boys’ School – two of Perth’s oldest educational landmarks.

    This year the teams focus is on commercialising both buildings providing external venue hire opportunity to Curtin Partners and Curtin Alumni. Additionally, Curtin 139 St Georges Terrace has become a part time gallery space hosting the Once Known – Carrolup Centre for Truth-telling exhibition presented by the John Curtin Gallery for the next 12 months
