Horticultural Supervisor Position
Ulandra has 4 positions as a Horticultural Supervisor to work at our Banana, Avocado and Mushrooms facilities, located in Lakeland, Far North Queensland.
We are a banana, avocado and mushrooms grower located in Lakeland, Far North Queensland, running a busy workshop and 3 packing houses.
We are looking for reliable and loyal staff to be part of our team.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (Background in building, engineering, forestry, tree surgery or horticulture)
- High Risk Forklift license
- Front end loader license
- ChemCert Accreditation
- First Aid & CPR Training
- Minimum 1 year experience in the same or similar role
- Effective communication skills & basic computer literacy.
- Good grasp of basic maths.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in developing new methods of planting, harvesting, and processing banana, avocados and mushroom crops to achieve optimum growing potential.
- Supervising the operation of the “Cherrypickers” used for bagging banana bunches.
- Supervising the trimming and pruning machinery used for avocado trees.
- Coordinating and assisting with harvesting plans and production schedules.
- Organising and training workers for picking and packing our crops, performing field duties and farm maintenance in general.
- Monitoring environmental conditions – air, raw material temperature, and humidity during spawn running process and adjust air temperature.
- Assisting packing crew harvesting bananas, avocados and mushrooms as per customer specification and product quality requirements.
- Maintaining and performing entries of the operating data collections for analysis of production and loss of our banana, avocado and mushroom crops.
- Undertaking the application of fertiliser, pesticides and compost in banana and avocado crops.
- Adhering to health, safety and hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and Regulations.
The position is available for immediate start.
Full-time position.
Range Salary $66,000 - $76,000 per year (salary is negotiable).
